Why Does Doing the Frog Matter?

Your frog has a strange talent. You can avoid doing it without actually getting away from it. You start something easier, watch something, talk to someone or do almost anything else, and then the unfinished thing pops back into your head. Oh yeah. I still have to do that. That is one reason the idea of Eat the Frog and get it done is useful. Instead of repeatedly meeting the same unfinished job everywhere you go, you choose to deal with it.

There is something else happening too. Every time you successfully tackle something you have been avoiding, you give yourself another experience of: I was avoiding that. I decided to deal with it. And I did. You aren't simply getting one job finished. You are building evidence from your own life that you are able to start something even when you don't particularly feel like starting it. And once the frog is eaten, it is done. It is gone. It doesn't get to follow you around anymore.
